+1 reporting in Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics

+1 reporting in Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics: "Webmaster level: All

It’s been a busy week for us here at the Googleplex. First we released +1 buttons to Google search sites globally, then we announced the beginning of the Google+ project.

The +1 button and the Google+ project are both about making it easier to connect with the people you trust online. For the +1 button, that means bringing advice from trusted friends and contacts right into Google search, letting the users who love your web content recommend it at the moment of decision.

But when you’re managing a website, it's usually not real until you can measure it. So we’re happy to say we’ve got one more announcement to make -- today we’re releasing reports that show you the value +1 buttons bring to your site.

First, +1 metrics in Google Webmaster Tools can show you how the +1 button affects the traffic coming to your pages:

  • The Search Impact report gives you an idea of how +1‘s affect your organic search traffic. You can find out if your clickthrough rate changes when personalized recommendations help your content stand out. Do this by comparing clicks and impressions on search results with and without +1 annotations. We’ll only show statistics on clickthrough rate changes when you have enough impressions for a meaningful comparison.
  • The Activity report shows you how many times your pages have been +1’d, from buttons both on your site and on other pages (such as Google search).
  • Finally, the Audience report shows you aggregate geographic and demographic information about the Google users who’ve +1’d your pages. To protect privacy, we’ll only show audience information when a significant number of users have +1’d pages from your site.
Use the +1 Metrics menu on the side of the page to view your reports. If you haven’t yet verified your site on Google Webmaster Tools, you can follow these instructions to get access.

Finally, you can also see how users share your content using other buttons besides +1 by using Social Plugin Tracking in Google Analytics. Once you configure the JavaScript for Analytics, the Social Engagement reports help you compare the various types of sharing actions that occur on your pages.

  • The Social Engagement report lets you see how site behavior changes for visits that include clicks on +1 buttons or other social actions. This allows you to determine, for example, whether people who +1 your pages during a visit are likely to spend more time on your site than people who don’t.
  • The Social Actions report lets you track the number of social actions (+1 clicks, Tweets, etc) taken on your site, all in one place.
  • The Social Pages report allows you to compare the pages on your site to see which are driving the highest the number of social actions.
If you’re using the default version of the latest Google Analytics tracking code, when you add +1 buttons to your site, we automatically enable Social Plugin Tracking for +1 in your account. You can enable tracking for other social plugins in just a few simple steps.

Social reporting is just getting started. As people continue to find new ways to interact across the web, we look forward to new reports that help business owners understand the value that social actions are providing to their business. So +1 to data!

Is There Money in Adsense?

Is There Money in Adsense?: "

In this post I’ll be discussing Google Adsense and if there’s decent money to be made using it.

A lot of people that focus on affiliate marketing, falsely believe that you can’t make good money with Google Adsense, and for a while back there I also fell into that trap. However having a few friends that are heavily into it, one I met recently actually who’s making $25,000 a month from pure Adsense, makes you think again.

There are a lot of companies advertising on the Google Content network, in fact in 2011 so far, 28% of Google’s revenue came from Adsense.

How Much Can I Earn?

Not every niche however will work well for Adsense, as I have found out the hard way in the past. The key is to aim for niches where the cost per click for the keywords in that niche are high. When I say high, I mean atleast above $1 per click. Google pays you 68% of the click cost, so you get 68 cents for a $1 CPC keyword.

Google has a free tool, called the Traffic Estimator that tells you how much a keywords CPC is. Here’s the link to that tool for you: Traffic Estimator. By the way, when using that tool, set your daily budget to $100, as I find that gives the most accurate results.

The more competitive a niche is the higher the CPC for the keywords are for Adsense. Therefore it is rather logical to monetize with Adsense where there’s money being spent by advertisers.

If you try and make money with Adsense in niches that don’t have companies with decent marketing budgets to spend on Adsense, then you may well find it very hard to make decent money.

When looking at keywords, you need to calculate the traffic you will get if you are in position 1 in Google. For example if a keyword phrase gets 1000 exact match searches a month, then you would get about 40% of that traffic in spot 1.

Now if your got a 10 click through rate on your Adsense ads, you would get 40 clicks a month for that keyword. 40% of 1000 = 400 @ 10% CTR = 40 clicks.

If Google tells you the CPC is $1, then they will pay you 68 cents per click, so 40 x .68 = $27.20 for that keyword each month. All you need to do then is rank for more keywords.

Ad Placement

With adsense it’s important to test where your ads are placed on your site. Google also provide a variety of ad blocks that you can use, which again you should test. On the Google Adsense site, Google provide a diagram that explains where the best performing ads are positioned. I have included that image below:

The great thing about Adsense is that you don’t have to convert the traffic as such, you just need to get those ads clicked and you are making money!

Adsense is not a complicated business model either, and if you know a thing or two about SEO and keyword research, then you can make a good go of it with Adsense. I think some people say there is no money in Adsense because they either don’t know because they never tried, or they did try but went about it all wrong.

I’m trying to organize a webinar with my friend who’s making $25,000 a month from Adsense soon, so he can teach you his tricks, as he knows Adsense much better than I do. With any luck that might happen soon, stay tuned.

Promote Your Website AdWord Banners

If you have online business the chances are that you’re looking for ways to promote your website. If you have time and you’re experienced web developer, then you can use one or all methods, mentioned below:

1. Submit your Website to Online Directories This is part of a longer term strategy aimed at creating incoming links, which will help form the foundation of your search engine optimisation strategy. Take a look at our list of online directories.

2. Start Social Networking Develop a presence in one or more of the social networking websites. For example, if you have a business-to-business service consider building a profile in Ecademy, whereas if you have a product or service for the consumer market MySpace can work well.

3. Create Buzz Are you launching an innovative business or one with a slight twist on what has gone before? Consider getting bloggers to write about your new business – the most popular place to do this is at PayPerPost.

4. Use Pay per Click Advertising on Google, Yahoo or Live If you’ve just launched a new online business the chances are that very few people know about it. Therefore to get people visiting your website instantly try pay per click advertising. Within 15 minutes you could have potential customers visiting your website.

5. Search Engine Optimisation Many people launch a new website without carefully optimising their website for important keywords. The result is that this task is left for a couple of months, at which time the website is optimised, with subsequent results not occurring many further months down the line. Get started immediately with optimising your website.

6. Submit an Online Press Release One of the most cost-effective ways for new businesses to generate awareness is through PR. Try writing a press release, and remember to distribute it online as well as offline.

7. Classified Ad Postings There are many free classified websites which receive tens of thousands of hits each day. Posting an ad is almost always free and can bring in highly targeted traffic or be used as a lead generation tool. See our list of free classified advertising websites.

8. Launch Affiliate Programme After your first couple of months in business you should have a good idea of your customer acquisition cost. This knowledge, along with having increased the conversion rate of your website, means that you can launch an affiliate programme with generous yet affordable payouts.

9. Increase your Conversion Rate This is one of the most neglected forms of online marketing. Once your website has been up-and-running for a while you should have statistics regarding the number of unique visitors and be able to calculate how many of those go on to register and eventually make a purchase. To make your current marketing efforts more effective you need to convert more visitors into customers.

10. Low Cost Viral Techniques Try experimenting with various low cost viral marketing techniques. These marketing ideas could be anything from sending an e-voucher to all your current customers that they can also forward onto friends and colleagues, or providing a discount at the end of the buying process if they send your website to 5 friends.

If you’re having time defficit, and you need to concentrate on tour speciality, instead of concentrating on website itself and on search engine optimization technics, there’s new method, which was developed by company named AdWord Banners (www.adwordbanners.com). The idea of technology is placing your website banners on top of search engines, and linking them with keyword, which describes your busniess. Advantage of this technology is it’s universality, it’s scalability and fixed cost. Clients will no longer need to follow daily, weekly or monthly spendings. They can pay once in year and get solid traffic on their website during whole year.

Facebook Promotion 101: How to Develop a Like Campaign

Contrary to what many people think, Facebook likes don’t come with the territory. Yes it’s easy to create a page and get a few likes, but is usually stops there for lesser known companies. Getting your first 1000 or even 500 likes is definitely the hardest. It takes time and patience to boost your exposure and reach on Facebook. So let’s take a look at the more important steps you’ll need to take in order to develop and carry out a successful “like” campaign.

Tag Your Page

Using the Facebook tagging system is a great way to promote your page and get more visitors and likes. You can do this by posting a status message on your personal Facebook profile and mentioning your Facebook page. Use your creativity to come up with a clever way to get people to click through to your page and “like” it. Maybe you have a special promotion going on or you have an interesting link that you’ve posted – anything to peak the interest of your Facebook friends.

Suggest to Friends

Every page has a handy link in the sidebar called “Suggest to Friends” which allows you to do just that. It’s a great way to recommend your page to your friends, who are sure to like it just because they’re you’re friends and want to support. Just don’t abuse this feature because many people are sure to get annoyed if you’re constantly bugging them about it.

Contests, Giveaways, Promotions

You can never go wrong with a contest or giveaway; not too many people will turn down free prizes. The best way to do this is to require users to like your page before being able to see any information about the promotion. This is easy since you can create a new tab dedicated to the contest or giveaway and then make it viewable to fans only. Of course you’ll want to make sure that you’re giving away something that is valuable and worth the “like.”

A great tool for creating and managing Facebook promotions is Wildfire. With all of their integrated tools, features and statistics you’re sure to increase your Facebook page fans.

Connect to Twitter

Twitter’s popularity does not seem to be slowing down at all. So why not take advantage of one of the top social sites on the Web? You can do that by linking your page to Twitter and converting followers to fans. Upon setting this up, all of your Facebook page posts will be sent to your Twitter profile along with a link. Hopefully you’ve already built up a decent following on Twitter and continuously working on building your brand there.

Use a Like Box

Facebook social plugins, namely the Like Box, are a very effective way of getting more likes for your page. You can customize it as you like and then add it to your website or blog. Visitors to your site can then “like” your page without even having to go to Facebook. It can also display recent posts from your page and other fans. If you have a site with high traffic, you really should not be without this.

Use Facebook as Your Page

Many people are not too familiar with this feature, but you can actually use Facebook as your page instead of as your personal profile. This allows you to comment on and “like” content as your own brand and really helps to extend your reach and peak the interest of others. Just remember that you’re representing your company and all of your actions will show up on your fan page. You’ll want to be careful of what you say and “like,” yet use your creativity to get new fans.

Facebook Ads

Running an ad on Facebook is smart, easy and effective. You can target users by location, age and interest. What you put in your ad is important; you’ll need a catchy image and text to grab people’s attention. A “like” button can be displayed below your ad, which makes it quick for users to become a fan. Often times you can even find advertising coupons for Facebook floating around the Web. This is as a great way to test the waters before getting your feet wet.

One of the best things about Facebook ads is being able to target the friends of those users who have already liked your page. They’ll see your ad and the fact that a name they’re familiar with has already liked it is sure to peak their interest.

Along with all of these tips, also make sure you’re utilizing your social media profiles and bookmarking sites. You’ll want to share the link to your page anywhere you can and bookmark it for others to find (ie. LinkedIn, Google Buzz, Delicious, Reddit). Make sure you’re using appropriate tags and a catchy description for SEO purposes. You never know where people will find out about your page, but the most important part is that they do find out about it.

Also remember that these tips are not a one-time thing. You’ll have to keep up with promoting your Facebook page on a regular basis until you reach your desired goal. Good luck.

Make money by joining affiliate programs

Join our affiliate program is quick and easy way to make the most multiply your income from your website or blog.
Before joining an affiliate program, the first thing you need to think about the market, where you work. You must choose affiliate programs that are most relevant to the theme of your site or blog.
If you use affiliate sites that do not interest your visitors, they will not click on them, and you will not make any money from them. Thus, you should clearly understand what affiliate programs you want to join before you start looking.
Then, when you join an affiliate program to accommodate things like banner ads on your site, see how to place on your site can be re-arranged. Be careful about using banners as a pop more or less, because some visitors find these interventions, and you may find that they are pushing them to leave your site.
Always mindful of the necessary changes to your site to improve your income from the sale of affiliate programs. To achieve this, you will need to have a site rich in content to your readers back again and again.
Affiliate Program offers you a unique and very useful opportunity to earn money. If you're in business online and are just looking for a way to augment their income, or you're just starting the site and you plan to use affiliate programs as your only means of income, there is a lot of money to be made.
However, do not go jumping in the first affiliate program you find. There are some very important things that you want to know about these programs before deciding which one to join.
The first thing to look at who's affiliate program serves. Some affiliate programs are very specific in their clients, such as gambling, sports, retail, wholesale, business to business, etc. Do not forget to select those most suited for affiliates like you.
Another thing to consider is the payment plan offers an affiliate program. Is it pay per click, pay per lead or pay per sale? Depending on your goals, you can choose an affiliate program with a definite plan of payment.
Also look for whether the program offers tiers. This will be in your best interest to get a referral to the program if they offer levels, because you will make money from your referral results as well as your own performance.
Take note that the Commission is paid. Take a look around and see if other programs are similar. If you notice that one program pays 10%, while the other pays 30%, why would you go with the one that pays less?
.
When you look at the sites of affiliate programs, think about other things that may be important to you, and do not be afraid to ask questions to representatives of partner programs. They will be happy to answer you.
Like all things in business, be careful not to move too fast. It is possible that you have reached some important details, and if you jump in too early, you made a mistake. But if you take a little more time to review the decisions you make the right choice and join a great affiliate program.
I offer the following tools to track your income, as well as to monitor traffic.
Clickbank Analytics - I use Clickbank, Clickbank Analytics is an essential tool of research for both publishers and affiliates ClickBank affiliate network. That allows me to see my daily, or another date range for clicks, page views, sales. I can tell you how I make per click on each of the products that I promote, and through that, I see that my conversion rate of income compared with different dates. This is a really useful tool.
Google Analytics - and of course I use Google Analytics, this time to track AdSense. Adsense is a big part of the second half of my income and I have connected my AdSense with Google Analytics, my monitor which pages convert better, and my income-per-view page to any page.
If you have any suggestions - share, please let me know
